Workshop for Veterinary students completed

A six day workshop for undergraduate students of the faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery at Jordan University of Science & Technology, was held at Al Ma’wa in corporation with the Princess Alia Foundation and the Embassy of the Netherlands. It aimed at raising the awareness, education and practical experience of students in areas of wildlife health and conservation.

Students participated in lectures, group discussions and practical veterinary interventions at the New Hope Centre of Al Ma’wa for Nature & Wildlife. Some of the areas covered during the workshop included the ecosystem, applied pharmacology, physical and chemical restrain of wildlife, husbandry and enrichment. Practical sessions, included the darting and sedation of lions for various treatments, as well as a field trip to Al Ma’wa Wildlife Reserve in Souf.
