Two jackal pups were confiscated from the illegal trade by the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature and brought to the New Hope Centre (NHC). It is suspected that they are siblings and were barely weaned when taken away from their mother, possibly from the wild. The male had a deformed forelimb and underwent surgery to correct this and he is doing much better now. We are currently waiting for DNA results to ascertain whether they are purebred jackals or hybrids in order to determine whether they can be released into the wild or if they will live out their lives at the NHC.
